Being a member of the Association of Russian Polar Explorers, Expedition Cruises pledges to make its own contribution to the development and furthering of Arctic science research. In so doing, Expedition Cruises actively encourages and supports participation in its voyages by naturalists and scientists engaged in Arctic research and endeavors to promote this research by offering these men and women of science a platform from which to perform their investigative research and a forum with which to voice their unique understanding of this delicate and ever-changing land mass. Preservation of the Arctic habitat and the Polar ice cap are environmental imperatives and the responsibility of all. We at Expedition Cruises accept this and through our work help our passengers to understand the importance of preserving our one unique earth.

Nowadays the Arctic is one of the last ecologically intact wilderness sanctuaries on our planet. The Arctic’s ecological balance, however, is extremely precarious. Under the region’s extreme climatic conditions, animal and plant life exists on the verge of their tolerances. Any interference by man in the region must be extremely cautious and carefully considered because the consequences are much more serious than elsewhere.
 
With this in mind Expedition Cruises ensures that expeditions are arranged in a way that minimizes disturbance to wildlife and the fragile natural environment of the Arctic. All our expeditions comply with all International ecological requirements and requirements for conservation of natural resources.
 
Due to the aforementioned Expedition Cruises requires the tourists to follow certain rules of conduct while aboard, ashore and on ice. Please, read the rules carefully.
 

1. Do not throw any waste outboard: onto the ice and into the water. Containers for waste are provided in your room.
2. Do not leave waste on vessel’s decks: take it to your cabin and put it into the waste container.
3. During BBQ’s on open decks waste containers are provided around the area where BBQ is held. Please, make sure you do not miss them!
4. Do not feed any wildlife from the board of the vessel. Bird flocks often follow the vessel: please, avoid the temptation to throw any food to them. Please, be aware, that feeding the wildlife might not cause pollution only, but it also results in changes of behavior of animals and birds.
 

1. Do not leave any waste ashore. When you find any waste ashore, please remove it - your help in keeping the Arctic reserve clean will be much appreciated.
2. Do not get close to any wildlife - be aware, that Rabies is not rare in the Arctic, among the Arctic Foxes in particular.
3. Do not disturb or feed any wildlife. Please, be aware, that feeding the wildlife might not cause pollution only, but it also results in changes of behavior of animals and birds.
4. Do not get close to the places where birds nest in order not to scare them away: the uncovered eggs cool quickly and are easy prey for predators. -
Sometimes our vessels quietly get close enough to (but still, quite a distance away from) the nesting rocks of several bird species. Please, not shout out loudly in order not to disturb the birds.
5. Do not pick flowers. Please, watch your step carefully not to make any unnecessary damage to the ground surface and the Arctic flora. Do not pick any plant’s specimens - regeneration of plants is extremely slow in the Arctic.
6. Do not take any souvenirs with you: bones of the Arctic wildlife, leave or dead animals or parts of their bodies, rocks, fossils, plants etc. Please, particularly avoid the temptation to take some small round stones from the Champ Island with you!
7. During our Icebreaker Expedition we shall come across historical sights, cultural monuments and relict of the past. It is unlawful to destroy or to remove the aforementioned from the place when they are found.
